History Ananthapuramu

The Central Police Recruit School, Anantapur was established in the year 1917 in the erstwhile Madras Presidency to cater to the Police Training needs of Bellary, Kurnool, Anantapur, Chittoor, Cuddapah and Nellore Districts. Mr. Beckett was the first Principal of the Central Police Recruit School, Anantapur. Later it was upgraded as Police Training College in the year 1955 in the Andhra State. This Institution is located at about 1KM distance from Police head quarters of Anantapuramu District, in the heart of the Anantapuramu town in an extent of 57 acres of land. It is located at a distance of about 470 KM’s from Mangalagiri.

 Buildings and accommodation The offices of IGP training, Andhra Pradesh,  and that of Principal are located in Administrative Building. The infrastructure consist of 12 class rooms in KCS Babu Block, 2 Pre fab Class rooms with capacity of 75 and 50 respectively.  Accommodation for trainees is available in 6 blocks with capacity of 680.
  Intake  capacity of trainees It has 3 parade grounds with capacity to train 7 squads in each ground. Mess for boys and Mess for Girls with capacity of 500 in 3 dining halls. It has facilities of two computer labs, Swimming pool, Gym, Guest House, and Library consisting of 6169 books on various subjects, Guest house having 6 rooms, gardening, Lawn tennis court and stadium.  102 quarters were available in the institute.
  Any imp previous issue related to training After the formation of Andhra Pradesh State in 1956 this Institute was the premier training Institute in the State for imparting induction and in-service training to the Dy. Supdts. Of Police, Sub-Inspectors (Civil and Reserve) and PCs (Civil and Armed Reserve) and Orientation training to IPS Probationers till the A.P. Police Academy was established in Hyderabad in 1991.Now, again this institution is the premier training institution for training of all ranks of Police officers, for both induction and in-service training, for the state of Andhra Pradesh. Two batches of IPS probationers  underwent  4 weeks orientation training .  At present 350 SCT SI’s Civil, 13 SCTSIs Communication and 13 SCT ASIs FPB induction training is in progress from 3-07-17 and about 313 SCT SI’s (AR, SAR CPL & APSP) will join for induction training on 3-10-17. 6 months conversion training of R.S.Is to Civil S.I.s commenced on  22-05-2017 and is in progress.
