History

The Police Recruit School was established on 01.06.1983 at Kurichedu village of Prakasam District.  Subsequently it was shifted to District Police Office premises on 25.08.1990. This institution is presently located behind the District Police Office and adjacent to the Kurnool road in an extent of Acrs18.68 cents. The Police Recruit School is upgraded as Police Training College in  the year 1993.  After bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh State into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State, this P.T.C., has become centrally located in the state of new A.P.

The District Training center, Prakasam District , Ongole was established in the year 2003 with the cost of Rs. 68.00 Lakhs to impart training to the in service men of Prakasam District. Initially this training center started training activity with one class room and a barrack consisting four halls, toilets, kitchen and dining hall. It is situated in Kothamamidi Palem village by the side of National high way -16 by pass with an area of 23 acres. It is 4 KM South from the District Police office, Ongole. The soil of District Training Center, Ongole is black salty soil and entire allotted area is low lying and water stagnates in the parade ground in rainy season. North – west area of training centre was partially leveled with hard soil.
